The only age requirement set by MyCar is that the driver must be over 21 years old and have held a driver's license issued at least two years ago. If the driver has less than two years of experience, rental conditions are discussed on an individual basis. MyCar reserves the right to refuse vehicle rental.Make sure that your license is valid for the entire rental period. Your driver's license must contain information in English that this document is a "driver's license", as well as your first and last name. In the absence of such an entry on your driver's license, make sure that you have an official translation of the document with notarization.

The safety deposit on cars varies from 3500.00 to 5000.00 rands. The deposit is included in the rental price, as listed on the website. The deposit will be returned to you as soon as the rental is over and the car is checked to be in the same condition.
MyCar accepts all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, American Express, and Union Pay.
Rental charges are calculated in 24-hour periods (24 hours = 1 day). A 2 hour grace window is granted on the return date. For example: if a vehicle is picked up at 8:00 am on Monday and returned at 9:00 am on Tuesday, this counts as one day. If a car is picked up at 8:00 am on Monday and returned at 11:00 am on Tuesday, the rental period is considered two days.
Standard Cover: The client is responsible for a limited liability amount in case of damage or loss of the MyCar vehicle. The daily standard rate in this case is lower. Super Cover: The client is not responsible in case of car damage (including glass and wheel rims) or loss of the vehicle. The daily rate is higher. This does not apply in cases of negligence; the client will be liable for the full damage amount (not just the excess). For example, accidents due to speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, or recklessness.
Yes, you can. You will need to rental a child seat or booster for an additional fee 30 rand per day.
All rented vehicles are inspected before and after rental return. An inspection checklist is completed with the client before rental to document mileage, damages, and fuel levels, and another inspection checklist is completed upon return. If any additional damages are documented, the client will not get their safety deposit back.
Trips outside South Africa are possible with prior approval and an additional fee of 1,000 rand. When making a reservation on the website, check the box "Crossing the border" and this cost will be included in the total rental amount for your booking. Permission to cross the South African border will be issued by MyCar and sent to your email address on the car rent date start. Only the person who signed the rental agreement has the right to drive the vehicle unless a second driver is specified in the rental agreement. An additional fee will be charged to cover the liability of the additional driver.
All rental cars come with a full tank of fuel filled to the maximum level. There are two options upon vehicle return: 1. The client can return the vehicle fully fueled; in this case, no additional charges will apply. 2. Return the vehicle at any fuel level (in this case, MyCar will refuel the vehicle at a rate of 30 rand per liter and this amount will be deducted from your deposit.
In case of an accident, remember the following recommendations: • Provide assistance to the injured. • Gather all information about the other driver(s) or persons/witnesses: - Name, ID number, Vehicle registration, Insurance details, Contact information. • Immediately notify MyCar staff by calling the phone number +27(64)666-53-45. • Do not tow the vehicle unless authorized by MyCar. • Report the incident to the nearest South African police station immediately—make sure you obtain a police case number. • Complete and submit MyCar's Accident Claim Form upon returning the vehicle or when a replacement vehicle is provided. • Complete and submit MyCar's Accident Claim Form upon returning the vehicle or when a replacement vehicle is provided.
If case of any breakage contact the MyCar emergency service – +27(64)666-53-45. We will provide roadside assistance and organize a replacement car for you.
Rental can be extended subject to availability of dates. The client needs to contact MyCar to make changes.
If you receive a traffic fine, MyCar will redirect the fine to the driver's name. MyCar will provide a copy of the fine and invoice to pay via email.
Immediately inform MyCar of any damage, as to avoid personal responsibility. Our staff will note down the damage and update the forms.
Yes, you can book cars for a different person. You have to make sure that the person is legally allowed to dive and complies with MyCar policies. Please make sure that the client data is filled out correctly when processing your booking.
Canceling and changing bookings is allowed, but additional fees may be applied. Please inform us as soon as possible to avoid any fees.
Pets are allowed on our vehicles for 300 rand per pet in a pet cages, but please make sure to keep the car clean, as additional cleaning fees could be applied equals to 500 rand. Please inform us of any pets beforehand.
Toll roads can be used at your discretion. You have to buy the passes at the toll booths, as we do not provide transponders.
Please check car availability on our website, as we usually only guarantee the vehicle class.
A vehicle can be returned in a different city from the one it was rented from for an additional 1300 rand fee. Please check the fuel level and the general condition of the car to avoid additional fees. Our staff will inspect the car and complete the required paperwork.
MyCar offers a grace period of 2 hours before charging an extra rental day. If you are late, please let us know beforehand.
Immediately contact MyCar by calling 27(64)666-5345. Additional fees may be waved for replacing keys and towing.
Yes, for an extra payment you can request booster seats, ski holders and other equipment. Please inform us beforehand, so we can accommodate you.
MyCar has a complete ban on smoking inside the cars. There is a 1000 rand penalty for smoking inside any of our vehicles that will be taken out of your security deposit.
